The flooding in Delhi also became a political battle with the Delhi government's ministers accusing Harayana of releasing water from a dam resulting in floods. Professor Ajakdi says that cities like Delhi will need to prepare better for the future by keeping space for rivers to flood when such extreme events occur. The more extreme ones will be much more difficult to deal with but at least we can reduce the extent of the hazard as well as the vulnerability and exposure, he adds.
