Many people believe that their close friends and family have been replaced by imposters. The part of the brain that delivers the emotional jolt when you're around a loved one can no longer be conveyed to your consciousness. For many people, that explanation is, well, the person in front of me is an imposter. There's something called Cotard syndrome, in which a person believes that they have actually died.
