The Divestment Strategy and the Backstory of Collective Action

The characters in the film, none of them, as far as I remember, start from being participants in a mass movement and then escalating their tactics. So we're starting as people sort of trying to instigate climate action to some extent, from relatively atomized kinds of societies. And so whether he came from mass organizing or not, I'm not entirely sure. That's certainly not part of the backstory. But I think that was the person with whom we were trying to talk about this transition between feeling like you should do something and doing it within prescribed ways.
