The Venus: A Teaching Tool for Anatomy

The large scale models were teaching tools and they were intended for one of the first public science museums. They opened in I believe 1775 in Florence through their beauty and through their intuitiveness. It was supposed to kind of teach regular people along with medical students about anatomy, hopefully vanquish the need for anatomical dissection. No one at the time seemed to think this was at all odd or disturbing.
