The Dangers of Self-Referential Modern History

I think the most dangerous thing, and Halak is getting at this when he's talking about how self-referential modern history is or the doctrine of progress is, is that you can't critique it. So we might see cracks, like, oh, we're polluting the oceans, and oh, you know, we're killing some sort of species and making them extinct and so on and so forth. We have simply not yet found the cure for our problems with climate change as a result of scientific progressive attitude to exploiting natural resources. The resolution to that issue is just around the corner. And I don't believe there will ever be an end to technological advances which make us more efficient
