Uasa is an excellent filmmaker to conclude Japan month on the important Cinema Club podcast with. His films show a post-war Japan that is facing the encroachment of Western values and aesthetics onto a very traditional Eastern society. He said, I was inspired by many different things, hip hop and shuffle dance, gymnastic moves, ballet, MC Hammer, Jackie Chan, Carl Lewis's jump. Even singing in the rain was an influence.
