Utah Clerical Penitent Privilege

The clergy penitent privilege is what lawyers call a testimonial privilege. It means that, um, if you have privilege, you can prevent certain conversations from being testified about by certain peoplek on the stand. So bishops and a lot of states are mandatory reporters. But then there will be a carve out where, if the only way they know of the abuse is through a confidential confession from, like, in their roll as priest r as a bishop, then it's often left up to them.
