CHAPTER

Introduction

Inphodemic: How can we be sure that what we are reading is reliable? And how can we promote the spread of this good, trustworthy information. Doctor john sutton spoke to tom buchanan, professor of psychology at the university of westminster. John started by asking if social context is an important factor in why people spread misinformation. Tom said it was more about individuals motivations and whether or not they believe it to be true on the point where they share it. He also suggested personality does have a role to play, but it's perhaps a relatively weak role in determining whether someone is going to share false information.
