The Tyranny of Work
There's a such thing as amusement. Leisure is something different. Both amusement and work must get their meaning from leisure, otherwise they're both literally endless. Note our society. Entertain yourself to death or work yourself to death. Pick your poison. They are both because we have no leisure - the only real end of any human activity is real leisure. When you've lost real leisure, there's neither a real reason to work. And there's also no good reason to ever stop working. We were not made to work as beautiful as what Martha did is. But if our main goal is to become virtuous, it's not a rush. Because there's never a hurry to cultivate virtue
