The Atonement of Jesus Christ

The person already chosen to be the Messiah was God's own son, or Christ, which is simply the Greek word for Messiah. So he became not Messiah now, but Savior, Savior for the sins of the whole world. And so there occurred the atonement, the vicarious atonement. He atoned for our sins, we are incapable of atoning for our sins. Those who accept Jesus as their personal Savior do so by faith, and they are justified by faith alone.
