The Heseid Story of the Human Condition

In Heseid's works and days, we hear of a golden age when mankind lived off the land in peace. But then Prometheus stole fire from the gods; as punishment for his crime they punished us with labors and deprivations. The story is basically the same one that begins Genesis - an explanatory tale about why life isn't always peachy. In fact, you can hear the backbone of the Eve or Pandora story in the very next part of Heseid’s works and days.
