The Repression of the 1960s and 1970s

By the 1960s, Francisco Franco is into his eighth decade. Civil servants have to be Catholic and some jobs even require a good behavior statement from a priest. Divorce is forbidden, along with contraceptives and abortion. Women are banned from becoming judges or testifying in trials. They cannot become university professors. Until the 1970s, a woman cannot open a bank account in Spain without having it cosigned by her father or husband.
