The Incentive Structure in Academics Is Not the Objective
The incentive structure in academia is clearly not geared toward understanding how things work. But out in the real world, if you're trying to write things that get read by people because you do that as a living, well, then you actually have to provide value. Academics don't have to do that. They have to write things to get published, not to get read. It's a huge difference. The impact of killing the group thing in academia is absolutely amazing of the internet.
