Jane Satter is a professor of phonetics at the University of Reading in the UK. She studies phonemes building blocks of language how we make them and hear them. At a very young age we stop being able to even hear sounds from other languages. English speaking babies that aren't also bilingual in Spanish very early on can no longer distinguish between a bah and a bah.
