Was Nabokov Determined to Be a Writer?
Nabokov started writing poetry as a teenager. His first two books of prose that he publishes are translations, one from French and one from English,. And he did this actually in 22, so very early on. Nabokov is there in the 1920s watching movies, maybe once every two weeks. He's close friends with the Russian film critic in Berlin who writes for this newspaper called The Rudder. It's like over 300 films to give a sense of what is this kind of mass of films.
