Tolkien's life work amounts to a kind of tapestry. With just those things published in his lifetime, you don't see the whole Tapestry. You said it was the history of Middle-earth that really sort of set you off on your journey. Yeah. If Christopher Tolkien had not edited and published the film, really, and produced all the editions he's since produced,. I think the understanding of Tolkien would have been paused at a certain level. Unable to get as high as it can now go. Because the whole thing is so into woven, isn't it?
