The Importance of Clarity of Thought and Economy of Expression
I tell students and others that ask me for advice about career, just keep an open mind. I also think it's important for physicians who are thinking about their career path to think about the other many ways in which one can have an impact as a physician. It's happened to me at multiple points in my career, including what I'm doing now as the director of NIAID. Communication and science is one of the most important things you can do.
