I wonder if the system itself would not allow that kind of influence to happen. Here I'm thinking of Obama, who the impression I got was a man of integrity and honesty and transparency. But you know, most of the stuff he did before he lost his mind over the election was pretty standard Republican stuff. So even if we have a new generation of virtuous people, maybe they get in there and they get corrupted because there's just no other way to do anything.
