Hillerman is just and I'm going to say Hillerman as in both, both Tony and Anne who's taken the mantle of that series. And it's very performative. It's very voyeuristic. You know, when white anthropologists look at Dene culture, they see superstition. They don't see religion. So it's fine to exploit those things as a white writer and make a living off of characters that are so obsessed with chasing down skin walkers. That's what Hillerman has done with that whole Jim Chi series. "I like the fact that yeah, Emerson is deep into one of the biggest taboos," she says.
