The War of Mehmet

Mehmet was described as being short and build, but strong and handsome. Edward Gibbon wrote about him in History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire that peace was on his lips, but war was in his heart. When he received foreign envoys, he showed a willingness to confirm his father's peace treaties with the Venetians and the Genoese. He even sent envoys to the Emperor of Byzantium, who basically didn't rule much more than Constantinople at the time.
