Why Do We Use Thousands of Salamanders?

Evolution is sometimes playing with random dice that are actually loaded dice. And so you see certain things popping up again and again. There's a story about 2000 salamander feet that where you showed a kind of bias. Apparently, some of the same structures can evolve over and over independently because the dice are loaded.
