Cicero is kind of demonstrating that there's a real jubilance, at least among the senate on the day that this has happened. In the immediate aftermath, they thought they would be hailed as heroes. They didn't see themselves as doing an insurrection or assassinating hiestite. So it's very easy for us to think, with the benefit of hindsight, oh, we know brutus and cassius, spoiler, i'mt going to do it well out of this. But in fact, that's not what they thought at all.
