Ravi Velour: In the joint statement that came out of the US-India summit in Washington, there were specific references to the South China Sea. Do these things have strategic implications for Southeast Asia, particularly for maritime Southeast Asia? Dr Baru: I think we are now in defense relationship to get down with Philippines, which is growing with Singapore. So, it would have implications for ASEAN, but I hope that we work in a cooperative mode with ASEAN because our interests are similar. We want freedom of the seas, we want freedom of navigation. And you should not neglect that.
