The Problem With Hot Fusion Research

Katherine Meade: I'm interested in fusion as an energy source. But every story about hot fusion breakthroughs is along the lines of, oh, we achieved a reaction and sustained it for 30 seconds or a minute. Well, folks, that's still a long way from a sustained reaction to make that fusion work. And notice we're not even talking about cold fusion yet. My suspicion has always been that this hot fusion story,. which has been around since the 1950s, is a gigantic money laundering operation.
