The Importance of Close Ups in Movies
There are very few wide shots in dialogue scenes in this movie. In the DNI there's maybe two. Music is the fastest way to generate an emotion from nothing. You can also have a similar effect by cutting to a big close up of somebody in some kind of emotional state and you will instantly start to feel that, says director Chris McQuarrie.
