The Four Functions of Information Processing
When medieval philosophers did cognitive psychology, they were talking about the requisite modules or units of information processing. In the processing order, they can have four functions that are observable in animal and human behavior. So that is why I usually have these block diagrams indicating pretty much the steps of the flow of information.
