The Myth of Beauty and Physics

I have no problem with the idea of beauty and physics, I think that's fine. And if certain ideas are exciting or make us feel good or something, I think we should welcome that. But there's a lot of mythology around like physics and science being this completely objective process. So let me close with my favorite example of beauty being misleading to somebody trying to do physics. Kepler died thinking that his greatest contribution to science wasn't these three laws of planetary motion. He had published describing the solar system based on mathematical objects known as the platonic solids.
