Skeptics say we're just hopelessly gullible. Gert Gangerinzer says people are pretty good at solving logic puzzles like the famous Wausen test where you have to turn over two playing cards and figure out whether it is a val or something on the back versus a number. And that people do better when it's more of a social environment where they're thinking like logically about other people rather than some abstract logic problem.

For too long, the term insubordination has evoked negative feelings and mental images. But for ideas to evolve and societies to progress, it’s vital to cultivate rebels who are committed to challenging conventional wisdom and improving on it. Change never comes easily. And most would-be rebels lack the skills to overcome hostile audiences who cling desperately to the way things are.
