The Threat of Choke Points in the Middle East
The United States is the threat to choke points more than anyone else, says Peter Bergen. The Chinese have to worry about being cut off from seaborne supplies which they're very dependent on economically and that's one of the reasons for their Belt and Road Initiative. But in a lot of cases you can go around Straits and Eugene Galtz talks about this in various publications,. And globalization of trade, creating options and so forth makes choke points less important and is a source of security for us in that sense.
