The Germans and the Haitian Government

The US was worried about the Germans taking control of Haiti during World War I. They wanted to keep them at bay and establish stability there, but it didn't work out that way. The U.S. eventually left in 1934 after a series of coups d'etats with Francois Duvalliès as president. But they did build up state-of-the-art infrastructure for their own use later on.
