There is an increase in hospitalizations, but not at the level that we saw with previous waves. There has been sort of decoupling between the number of cases and a number of hospitalizations. Winter is also a major season for other respiratory ill system. And even with all thi stress on the health care system, it doesn't seem like things are really shutting down.
The omicron variant is very transmissible, but it might make Covid-19 less miserable.
