The Political Philosophy of Freud and Klein

There's a great deal to be said about the political philosophy that is embedded in Freud's notion of group psychology. I do think group psychology mediates between the Kleinian dyad, as it were, and a broader political analysis of hatred. We have to deal with the ambivalence and the potential for destructiveness that is in all social bonds. And understanding those bonds as free of conflict would be naive and actually dangerous because we wouldn't be able to work through aggression or destruction.
