The Four Functions of a Traditional Mythology
The old social orders are broken. There are no fixed rules. Society changes very fast. What we're virtuous today, yesterday are the very vices of today. And so we have an open order model. The problem of a mythology is not only to carry the individual from dependency to responsibility, but also from responsibility to nobody needs anymore. We might say that an erotic is a person who did not make that process. Who in middle life is still in fear or in dependence upon a parental image and cannot assume for himself the total responsibility for his actions.
