Is a Right Just a Permission and Can It Be Revoked?

I largely agree with what you've just said on the importance of these quote unquote rights and how they should orient a society. But one of the things that I think history teaches us is that they are still ultimately just ideas. And so it brings in invites to question is a right just a permission and can it be revoked at any time? And we would like to say that no, they're inviolable. They're granted by the creator...but oftentimes it doesn't matter because if you control the apparatus of power, well, you can decide what rights people have.
