You Don't Even Have to Remember It

The Philippines has this eternal memory of being caught in the middle between competing empires. And they see themselves again being caught between the United States and China. The older generations during the Cold War, and even some of the oldest people who are alive today grew up in an American school system that of course overtly erased the histories of American colonialism. In some cases, you don't even really have to forget it because you don't have a, a, a good grasp of it or educational background in it. But the process of forgetting becomes easier.
