How to Be Productive in Academic Writing
I think that so often academic writing seems like it has arbitrary rules. And I think when any time, just as human beings, when we exist in a world that we perceive as arbitrary, we are really inhibited from making the kind of improvements that we need to make. So if you can start to talk about why academic writing is what it is, the work that it does, why it is evolved in the way that it has, students and novice academic writers can start to see themselves as in a tradition ... using their writing as a way to be part of something important for them professionally and possibly personally.
