It was my very first I would say sustained combat deployment that really revealed what it was like being an active duty combat squadron in wartime now that was 2001-2002. We were flying routinely being given targets by other assets or finding targets on our own or working together with other teams either on the ground or in the air to find targets in Afghanistan and we were not every mission obviously but it was an incredibly busy time. Every time kept to hear my arm was starting to stand up rethinking about it every time we climbed up into those jets their jets had names of police officers and firemen who perished on September 11th painted on the side of them. You undeniably had this sense of patriotism and obligation
