Is the US Supporting Israel a Good Idea?

The IDF is funded by the US government to the tune of 3.8 billion dollars per year. What accounts for that funding? The United States' interest in perpetuating the occupation and supporting Israel no matter what war crimes they commit. I think the world is divided at this point. There are those who are on the side of colonial settlement and imperial conquest and those who are not.
