The Unphilosophical Method of Philosophy

It is important to understand what philosophical method consists in, at least insofar as philosophy is conceived as asking and trying to answer first-order questions. Not all of the questions that philosophers have asked and tried to answer are truly philosophical. The philosopher was misled by failing to see that such questions can be answered by scientific investigation - though he probably could not have known this at the time of his writing.
