Why Is the Supreme Court in Favor of the Initiative Process?
There are precedents going back a hundred years where the court has rejected this kind of argument in different contexts. The issue is whether state courts, upplying state institutions, can supplement what the legislature has done to their related questions. And so there's both ind of an ideological understanding of this and also a political aspect that says let's give the republican legislature a chance to do what it wants.
