In the early posts from the Dread Pirate Roberts, he would talk about how Silk Road was much safer than buying drugs in the street. Gary found those lines curious and felt offended. He drew up a list of people he believed could possibly be the Dread PirateRoberts. Among them were a man who managed a web for him, a man who worked with Bitcoin, and a programmer who had libertarian views. Adrian Chen was the author of the Gorker article that had practically launched Silk Road.
