Is Art and Music a Moral Obligation?

Winnston Beethoven is a British pianist and composer. He has performed with the likes of beethoven, Schubert and Prokofe. In an interview he said that music had a bigger purpose than just expressing himself or herself. Do you agree? What do you mean by 'art?' And how should we define art in today's world?
