Lucine is the branched chain amino acid that I did my PhD research on and is responsible for increasing or triggering muscle protein synthesis. Most animal-based sources of protein are around 8%, 9% lucine in terms of grams of lucine per 100 grams of protein. Whey protein is 11 or 12%. And then if you look at plant-based sources, which are like 6% to 8% lucine, you get almost double in whey protein.
