The Tory Party's Absolute Nightmare
The Tory party has always tried to see off a sort of right-wing challenger. From the 1960s onwards, there's been that kind of populist strain in Conservative politics. David Cameron's decision to call the referendum did have a lot to do with trying to suppress support for what was then UKIP. But if they fail to deliver on their promises, for example, in immigration, then actually they give more grace to Nigel Farage.
