The Importance of Authenticity for Attachment
When you express a certain emotion and you get shunned for that, there's a fear there oftentimes that, okay, if I'm really sad, my dad doesn't love me. And so I have to compromise authenticity for attachment in a case like that. It's not just a simple association, but it's also this entire narrative and story of why you are not worthy of your dad's love or whatever. "I feel exceptionally lucky for the first time ever," he says about his life-changing experiences.
