The Disaster of Learning to Read

A team of facilitators wrote a paper on how to teach Nigerians who can't read to read. The words they used were: resources, money, abundance, crude oil, stealing, pocket, begging, plenty, poverty, suffering, frustration, crying, hunger, crisis, dying, death. They later depicted these words in pictorial forms showing the concrete realities and situations in the lives of the people. It provoked an emotional state of pity and anger among the discussants.
