The Equal Justice Institute's Legacy Museum highlights the trauma of family separation. The first room of that museum was the room where people waited to be sold at auction, just a few blocks away. One person describes the anguish of being separated from her family. "I'm thinking about how, for us, displays of vulnerability were forbidden," she says.
