How Annie Climbed Matterhorn
Annie was the first woman to climb two of Mexico's highest peaks, Pico di Orizaba and Popa Cata Teppel. She held the world record for the highest peak climbed by a woman before Fanny Bullock Workman bested her in the Himalayan mountains. Annie considered pants a necessity when climbing; many women did climb in long skirts but she thought they were cumbersome.
