Let Go of the Goal and Focus on Yourself

You have to start making your effort mean something. You let go of that goal, you grieve it. And as you start reframing away from that goal, which makes any any effort useless. This world has more to offer than relationships. So by all means, give up hope on the relationship, but don't give upHope on life and start working on what you can work on.
