Do We Know What Was in That Gap?

Do we know what was in that open gap? Was it walled up or anything? Because why didn't the anime, Badami is supposed to be this great kind of impenetrable thought? So but it's kind of much more open. None of these dullments were intended to be like living spaces. Perhaps if there was anything living in them, I can't imagine anything more than a small mammal like a dog or sheep. It was just spending probably, but nothing about that.
